just watever paint ford uses. and the guys at the shop even put the orange peel look into it, although i would rather have the whole car smooth black, the subtle orange peel ford is known for is what the guy did. All the orange peel effect is.. is heavier amount of paint, so it dries like orange peel.

Ummm....typically, orange peel is bad, and isn't done on purpose.

why is it bad? apparently every ford has it to some extent. Mine isnt that noticable unless u get 2 inches from it and stare at it in sunlight. I guess i could polish it and make it look better, but thats when the weather gets nicer.

THe guy at the shop told me ford just uses the orange peel method because their paint is thicker and sprayed heavier. i really dont see anything bad about it, except it not looking as good as smooth paint.

Hehe, that sounds kind of like an excuse to me. The idea finish has no orange peel. Of course, most Ford paint has orange peel because Ford paint sucks.

Not the paint, the painter.

Sounds to me like a screwed up paint job.

I think it's both. It should be perfect from the factory because it's sprayed by a robot, and robots are perfect. But that isn't the case.

he told me that he did it to match the paint. he is the shop my dealership uses. he said itz actually more work for his painter to do the "orange peel" type paint, because when he does other makes, he has the smooth finish, vs ford with the orange peel type paint. i dont know.. you really cant tell, and there is a speckle on the front bumper which im bringing next week or so to the shop to get it all compounded and buffed. i think it came out great.

Man that looks way nicer than before. Monotone paint scheems rock. I had to be sort of talked into doing my trim on the white truck, but after I did it I was sooooooo pleased with the outcome.

EDIT: Speaking of which, I did that all over a year ago but my avitar is still with the black trim, I gotta change that.

thanks matt. i actually passed by your house real quick awhile back, and seeing your white one really convinced me to go ahead and doo it.

Sweet. It looks like a completely different X.

Chase is right... NYS cops have a hardon for missing front plates.
