Bench seat

i have a 96 explorer and i want to put a bench seat in the front instead of the buckets, does anyone know what vehicles bench seat will fit, and where i could get it for a decent price(probably a ranger? but what year) any imput would be great, thanks.

i dont know how you would do that, because theres that big hump in the middle from the transmission.

yea i was thinking that but dont you think if i got the bench out of another vehicle it would have some sort of mounting underneath just like any other car has? theres gotta be some way to mod it to make it fit.

i heard some early explorers that were manual had benches, so maybe i could find one from another X

I would think that bench seat from a same year ranger would fit with minor modification, but I'm not sure.

Just look at as many rangers as you can. They still offer bench seats in the current rangers, so I bet a salvage yard would be a good place to look at mounting points.

yea i think ill make a trip to the salvage yard tommorrow and try and find the seats.i hope i find something so i can start. how much do you think a bench seat would cost? $50 ?

First off, they are more comfortable then the bench in the back. Second I think it looks a lot better. Tell me you wouldnt enjoy riding in the back of this X... HeRe

Try to find the cleanest seat that you can. Ideally you would want it to match your interior, but it could be recovered. I would think that a seat would be less than $70. You will hopefully get some ideas at the salvage yard. I think it would be cool to have a bench seat in front. It reminds me of the good old days in which I wasn't born.

i put stock bucket seats from the front of an explorer in the rear of mine.......couldn't see out of the back with 3 people back there, plus i don't think it was too comfortable with 3 in teh back anyway....check out my page at www.cardomain.com/id/pimpedexplorer
