So I bent a 3rd bracket wheeling in CO.I am going to beef this one up to get me by, but it may be time for a SAS? Just seems like an SAS is going to cost a fortune. Thoughts.

..What brand bracket?

..I've tore a couple and after welding some triangle pieces front and rear on my Superlift bracket, that pretty much resolved that issue..

..Now if you are hard on the skinny pedal or like to fly low, these lift brackets won't last..

..Rock Crawlers and desert racers do not use lift brackets on their TTB's as it is an item that is not designed for the torque or leverage but rther for lifting the vehicle in height..

..BTF "Cut and turned beams" with a stock axle pivot bracket is a cheaper option but it will gain you some width..;)

Are you ripping the passenger side drop bracket?

I ran duff drop brackets for many years and never had an issue. They had an extra piece to help reinforce the bracket and keep it from ripping (pulling backwards).

I did go to the BTF Cut and turn beams BUT when I did that I added the same style reinforcement that the Duff bracket had to the stock brackets. Even the stock bracket that I put on was starting to bend/rip some so I can see how drop brackets without that reinforcement break.

Here are a couple shots of the bracket modification I'm talking about.

First is my stock bracket with the modification. I matched that bolt going through the side of the frame to the same spot that Duff had it. I'm using one of those nuts with the wing on it so I don't have to get a wrench inside the frame.

Here is a shot with the cut/turns beams on and the modified stock brackets. You can see how the cut/turned beams gave some more clearance under the truck. It does handle differently than it did with the drop brackets but I wouldn't say its any worse, or better (handling).. and Yes. The x is under its own weight in that pic but the brakes are just hanging and the from diff isn't in. I do have it on camber plates so suspension isn't loaded (before I aligned it too).

And Yes, I would say I wheel it somewhat hard. I'm not a go fast person but I do like to go fast-ish once in a while (50mph or so). Other than the hood and roof, there is no body panel that hasn't been bent, spindled or mutilated.. If not by the trail, by a sawzall :)

Desert racers, for sure not... But TTB rock crawlers actually have a very good reason to use stock beam geometry with drop brackets over modified (C&T) beams: A modified beam puts the suspension's pivot axis up higher which increases suspension jacking and track-width narrowing during extension, which could impact the vehicle's stability on very steep or off-camber terrain.

I do agree though, some reinforcement of the bracket(s) might be all that is in order here (and maybe boosting your lift height a little via washers to get the brackets up higher if your suspension is sitting a little low). It's very possible to have drop brackets that far exceed the strength of the stock brackets (as is the case with Skyjacker and James Duff brackets).

Awsome thanks guys bracket coming off tomorrow and will be reinforced :-)
