i need to know what the best shock is that's inexpensive. i was looking at the rancho rsx reflex's but then i've been reading posts about them being too short. i dont want monroe sensatracs b/c that's what i have on now...they were on when i bought the thing 6 months ago and i dont know how long they've been on there, but they're shot now. so i'm looking for some good, cheap (50 bucks or less) shocks. what about the rancho rs5000's? how about the bilstein's? your opinion would be much appreciated

I just bought some Gabriel Gas Ryder LT's with VST for $18 each. These are supposedly the same as the Edelbrocks IAS. I haven't put them on yet, but you can't really go wrong with $18 shocks Dead Link Removed

I got them at Autozone and they were in stock. The guy said that's their best-selling shock.

TURNER55, i am excited , your saying what do i care, right. well ill tell you why . cause im looking for shocks too. good for me you say. well today i went to the local auto store "Advance Auto Parts" buying some brake stuff when i picked up an add that they had on the counter and on this add was shocks on sale, they are buy three get one free. this is the qoute they gave me. 60 bux and change for the front SET( yep i said SET) and like 62 bux for the rear SET( yep i said SET again). these are for the RS 9000's 5 way adjustable shocks so if you get one for free it should all be under 110 bux with tax and stuff right? well i had to get the guy to let me see the damn computer for myself and damn sure was for a SET not just 60 bux each one but a set . im going tomorrow to by some even if i have to bounce a damn check. the hell with it. BTW you can reach them at there web site at WWW.AdvanceAutoParts.com or call the local one here 757-480-2647 thats in Norfolk VA. so id check them out on the web first . Later e-mail me if you need more info.

wow...60 bucks for the front and 60 bucks for the back...and buy 3 get one free? you're positive that it's the rs9000 and not the rs5000?? that's almost too good to be true! i bought some hellas from advanced auto parts and i dont really like the employees there, b/c they dont know anything about anything...discount auto is much better. ANYWAY, i just might have to march myself down there and take a look (now i just have to scrounge up the cash Dead Link Removed ) Alec, tell me how the gabriel's are after you put them on, now that REALLY sounds too good to be true...18 bucks for the same shock as an edelbrock ias...one more question, have you guys heard anything about takico shocks? i think that's the name of them...i may be wrong...it's something like that, thanks for the help

i've been looking at old threads concerning shocks and the gabriel vst sounds like the way to go. i dont really need an offroad shock because i dont go offroad often...from what i read, the vst is a good shock, definately worth the money. someone told me that you need a special tool to replace the shocks yourself...is this true? can i not just jack it up and take off the bolts holding the shocks on and then put the new ones on? i sure wish we had a pep boys here so i could get free installation...oh well, this will be a learning experience...thanks in advance

At the price of 60 per SET I dont think anyone could pass them up. Please let me know if that is the true price. I may just have to buy myself an eairly birthday present Dead Link Removed
Please let me know vial email if the priceis actually 60 per SET of Rancho RS 9000's adjustable shocks.
Thanks,

I've had the Gabriel VSTs for about 2-3 weeks now, and love them. They provide a civilized highway ride, and I presume since nitrogen, will firm up with heavy action off road. Normally I endorse KYBs, but PepBoys set me up for all four for $86 complete, tax, and installed. Hard to beat, and lifetime guarantee. I have the BFG Longtrails and so far, combined with VSTs provide and excellent ride. I have Monroe Sensa-Tracs on my SHO, and love them too, cause I like the smoothness. One sholdn't have to be jarred ALL the time. :)

I just put on the Monroe Reflex shock and I am pleased with it. I think it has the same type of technology as the the VST. I do not think that the VST is the same as the Edelbrock IAS. I think all three have their own patented system that resemble each other.
