Hi all, I am upgrading my low/high beam headlamps in a few days (as soon as my order arrives). I own a 2015 Base Explorer.
The car came with regular Sylvania HB3/9005 and I replaced those with Osram Cool Blue Intense HB3.
I was happy with the whiter appearance but I would like to have more powerful lights. I drive around Pittsburgh, PA and I am constantly being blinded by other drivers, and I find it hard to see pedestrians and bikes around the city (my eyes are OK, I checked them!).
Thanks you to all of you that posted about this topic I discovered the existence of the HIR 9011 bulbs and I ended buying an Osram set.
Specs of my current lights:
Osram Cool Blue Intense
Specs of the replacement:
Osram HIR1
If the links stop working, the specs are available at the Osram website.
The 9011 bulb has 2500lm compared to the 1860lm of the H3B (so I expect a 30% improvement). Each lamp will add 5W to the circuit, so I shouldn't have any electrical issue (the circuits are protected by 10A fuses and I am adding less than 0.5A to each circuit)
I was originally planning on buying the Philips ones but I didn't because of the following reasons:
1. No specs available on Philips website (I checked North America, Europe and South America websites without success)
2. Philips Average lifetime informed in the package is up to 150 hours (made in Korea). Osram indicates a minimum of 220hrs
3. Osram set was $10 cheaper
I will share photos shortly!
