I searched, but all i found were people complaining about low mileage, and others telling them to change their plugs.

Soooo...what are the best plugs for my exploder?

In my DOHC 4V Cobra, the best plugs are just simply copper Autoloite 764s gapped at .054

So, what are some good plugs for this pig?

autolite platinum or even double platinum will work very well

Alright. What's the part #?

Bosch Platinum

I would never use a Bosch plug in an Explorer.

I recommend Motorcraft plugs.
That's fine since it is your opinion. I have 143k trouble free miles with them.;) FWIW, I have had Motorcraft and Autolites both detonate in prior Fords.

His word is law. Nuff said.

I myself have bosch platinum's in right now, but that's just because i thought they sounded cool. i'll be going back to motorcraft next go around. i don't have problems with the bosch, but i trust what Al has to say. he won't lead you wrong.

I had those E3 plugs for a month or so before my truck was totaled. Seemed to run pretty good, I was impressed with them.

Stay away from Autojunk, I mean Autolite. They are pure crap. Only use Motorcraft. I have seen 'lites sieze in the head and require the head to be removed and sent to a machine shop to extract the plugs. Not just on one occasion either. I have seen it appx half a dozen times in the last 10 years. Motorcraft is the only way to go. I'm gonna use a double platinum when I assemble my rebuilt 4.0

I always had best luck with whatever Motorcraft plug is recommended for my motor.

Forget Bosch platiums....

I would also highly suggest staying away from Champion. Had one break off just above the hex.

plugs seizing in the head isnt from the type of plug... its from different heat characteristics from the metal of a plug and the type of metal the head is... all plugs can seize in a head... just use anti-seize compound... and you wont have this problem...

Im on another forum dedicated to V6 f150's and we always ran into problems where platinum plugs with misfire the engine or just make it run weird...

So I normally tell ppl to stick to Motorcraft factory plugs or Autolite copper cores with ford engines...

i couldnt agree more with the both of you... never bosh ive had troubleswith them... and autolite is crap too.. down to the basics stick to recopmmmended.. which mean motorcraft or even borg warner plugs.. and also dont use muti tipped plug they just get filled with junk and they dont fire anybetter trust me....

plugs

i've used ngk in everything and think their better than any other

ngk is the best for japs / foreign but ford is motorcraft gm is delco u get the idea

I just put NGK's in my Dodge 4.7 V8 and they run great! Stock was Champion copper, then I switched to Autolite coppers with no real difference. When I switched to NGK V-Grove, seemed to be a slight bit zippier.
But then again, the dodge 4.7 is an OHC engine that likes the revs (similar to imports) so that's why the NGK's work well in them.
I'm not sure how'd they'd perform in the lower revving OHV's found in our 4.0's.

Autolite used to make the Motorcraft plugs if they don't still do.
