I created this thread a couple of days ago asking about shocks for "STOCK" use not offroading. Please don't move this thread to the same offroad (ghost town) section as the other one because I'd like good input and as stated i won't be using the explorer for offroading so there's no need to put under any topic that falls under off-roading, thanks.

Now.. the real stuff..

My explorer doesn't need them, but I put a new set of monroe stockers on a previous explorer and it really improved handling and ride.

I was wondering what's the best shocks for daily driving? I do no off roading, but lots of highway driving and was wondering if ranchos, konis, kyb, etc would be worth the few extra dollars?

I fitted Bilsteins from new 10 years ago. Still got a ways to go on the million miles warranty. Still working great.

I've only had mine on since last December. Defintely improved the ride and much nicer than the Monroe Reflex I had on my last Explorer. They go hand in hand with the EE swaybar I had put on at the same time.

Definitely worth the extra $$$. Nice to know they last too.

I agree with the EE Sway Bar mod! Big improvement and seems like it was designed to work with Bilsteins.

Where can I purchase bilsteins? Price?

I'm sorry, but it still doesn't belong here. There is a forum for shocks, and it isn't just for off roading.
Moving, but I will leave a link to your thread here.

Its the shocks section under off road dude... INHERITANCE.... my question has to do with stock use, not offroad therefore it should be under the stock explorer questions section NOT the offroad section.

I can't remember where I got mine, but I searched the internet for the best price (pay attention to shipping), and from a company that looked decent. If I searched my files long enough I could probably find the place. I think I got all (5) for under $400, if memory serves.

The 5th being the one on the rear-end housing?

The "axle wrap" as they call it.

Oh darn, there was a pretty funny post in this thread that seems to have disappeared. :D
