I've been reading all the old tow hook threads; I am wanting to add front and rear tow hooks to my rig. I see all types: the Ford-OEM style loops, the "hook" type, ring types, and so forth. Which type is "best", or "most useful"? Or are they all the same?

If you're near a junkyard, the Chevy 88-98 4x4's have some nice beefy hooks on the front.

I just picked up some 10,000 lb. hooks from Autozone. Took me about 8 months to put them on.

I have the Pro Comp hooks on the front of mine.

I know about the Silverado hooks. Are they loops or hooks? What type of hooks is best? Is the open hook best? Or is the loop type better?

i dont think that there is one that is better than the other...the colsed loops you have to loop the strap around on itself that can be a hassel sometimes.....i like my hooks with keeper clips..its the best of both worldsyou get the ease of a hook and the keeper clip keeps the strap on the hook while you get the strap tight between the trucks so it cant fall off

I also don't know about "best", but I really like the look and feel of Jeep hooks. Virtually invisible in black, gleaming 'fangs' in chrome.

I just put mine on and haven't used it yet, but I'm sure the clips will be nice when I do.

Since you fellas say that works well, I will probably get that type of hook. Pro-Comp tow hooks. If I can't find them anywhere I'll be back. The keeper looks like a nice little feature.

all online stores have them...if you have a tractor supply company store in your area i have seen them there too....i got mine from summit, and they were at my door 3 days after i ordred them

Napa sells them with the keeper on them. Think they ran between $10-20 when I saw them. Mine worked fine and don't have the keeper on them

I'm a fan of the D-Ring if you have a front or rear hitch.

that is a great way to go if you have the hitch...i will be getting one for my rear hitch before the next off-road outting...

If only these had 1/2 bolts, these would be what I'd get next time around....

good god...thats a beefy hook

I want to get this but haven't found this for under $37. Anybody know where I can get this for a decent price?

I've got a 2" wide strap with loops on the ends and I could just pull the strap through the loop and tighten it on there. but now that I look at it you might be right.
