I just bought a '99 Explorer XLT AT and want to lift the body 2-3" and fit 31-33" tires for occasional easy off-roading. What is the best body kit? What does the operation involve? Will I need extensions for the driveshafts or anything else? Is it pretty easy to do (how much time)? Can I fit tires that size on the stock rims? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

--Would it just be easier to buy raisers for the springs?

you dont have springs.....

a body lift you are going to need the ranger kit PA # 853 and custom make some bumper brackets

31x10.5 will fit fine on the stock rims, a 33x12.5 will physically fit, but isnt recommended

You want the 883.. the 853 works on 95-97s.. The 883 should have everything you need. just make sure you have a drill bit and some extra washers..

ABout how much time does it take?

6-12 hrs

If ya want to go with 31x10.50's, you can do a TT (Torsion Twist ) and War153 (Warrior 153) shackles on the rear...

On the 99-01's with the taller bumper you may have to shave a little off the inside of the foglight area, but not much.

If ya need any advice on doing a 99 with 31's let me know..

AT's and MT's are 2 different animals....(ie... had to cut more for the MT's than AT's)

Thanks for the advice. Lastly, I wanted to know where is the best place to buy the kits and what will I spend for all of it? (I don't want to spend all too much)
Also, are used kits just as good as buying one new?
