1999 Explorer Limited
Hey! I'm new here!

Just bought a 1999 Explorer Limited, 5.0, All time AWD. Put the rear axle UNDER the leafs, now I need to get 5" out of the front to level. Suspension lifts only. I have torsion bars (maxed out I got 2"), do I delete and put coils in? Best place to get uh, double jointed CV shafts? Anybody make new rear shock mounts or do I have to make some?

After the lift it only needs a transmission, radiator, and a few weeks of electrical exploration, maybe a few new computers, but the driver side seat is LEATHER and heated and I already cut the exhaust off and did a double side exit, so it's pretty boss.

I also own a 1996 XLT, but after getting the 5.0, when I drive the 4.0 I feel like a little girl.

Thanks,
Trip

Looks like that worked out perfectly for ya. ^

Adding 2 inches up front from the torsion bars is going to blow out the cv axles and ball joints. To get 5 inches in a 4x4 IFS you will need to drop the front differential and put in spacers to keep the CV joints together. As for the ball joints you will likely need to get extended control arms and longer front shocks (ie superlift conversion kit), though some people just install camber adjusters on their stock upper arms and put in heavy duty lower ball joints.

Are you referring to my interest in the lift and coilovers? I do want them (moreso interested in going coilover) but I'll only get them if still available early next year. If not I'll move on.

Sounds like that is what the OP needs more than me. I really want to get my D60/D70 under it so I would only buy it because it's a great price and basically bolt on for a temporary project.

Oh, I didn't think you wanted them. Thought you were posting them here for the OP to buy.
But in that case, good luck!
As long as stuff like that ends up at a good home, it's good. :)

Seriously this front set up is quality. It has a plenty of articulation and my front wheels rarely leave the ground on obstacles. Just my $.02 on the matter.

I posted it to help the sale and the OP. It won't break my heart if it goes to someone else who will actually use it but if it's still available when I'm ready, I'll put it to good use.

he wont do it.....he wants a cheap way out.....

just like all these "first thread lift questions" they want 10in. for
under $300....haha

they just don't get it.

honestly, DominicanX I would have probley picked that up from you
3 months earlier, but did the superlift front brackets and SOA
I really like the coil over thing too.....I may do that in the near future

:salute:

I want 5" while retaining IFS. I never said anything about price. You wanna see 10" for $300 I'll drop my pants. I just didn't want to endlessly dig through threads to find what Mr. Offtrac posted.

Thanks,
Trip

P.S. - Best luck with this Superlift stuff?

If this doesn't work I'll have to figure out some other way to get a few picks of this beast up

how about a change in the whole front suspension to a first gen ttb then use one of the lift kits for that. It should give you better articulation.
