Better motor...4.0 OHV OR 4.0 SOHC?

Thats probably the one coming into the next Gen Ford Falcons in OZI land. The current series is the last. A sad farewell for an engine that has served the people of Australia well.

I just came back from Los Angeles from the Bay area 400 hundred miles each way in my 97 SOHC 300,000 miles cruise controlled at 85 and 90 up the grapevine I just love this explorer

I have a 1998 sport (2 door) with the SOHC, and let me tell you despite the timing chain rattling, I love it, since I drive up and down the highway every day the extra power in the higher RPMs is amazing! Haha, I can do 80 going up the mountains towards my home as long as I turn off overdrive, and for this one dumb exit where it dumps you right onto the road with no time to gain speed it can really get me doing when I hit the gas! Yes, the timing chain is rattling, however almost everything else on the car is working amazingly, (even that back wiper everyone has trouble with!) so if the chain does get bad, I'll get my family friend to fix it for me, so hopefully it's not too expensive... haha, I doubt it could be worse than our 07 van's engine destroying itself because the oilworks we took it to somehow forgot to change the oil and transmission fluid. Funny how that happens. He found an engine for it and put it in, just charged us a little over the price of the engine and it's still going strong~

If one of the four chains breaks it screws up all of them and you bend about half you valves. 400.00 if you fix it yourself got to pull the engine and have a 300.00 special tool to time it with. Major Pain.

Ahhhhh this brings me back. Man I wish I could go back to December. You're right haha, my timing chain guides are long gone and the car sounds like a complete disaster when it's running due to the rattling. Therefore, I have a $4000 driveway decoration, yay... also, the front and back window washers broke too. Somehow. The wipers work but no fluid comes out. I made sure it was full, the fuse was broken so I replaced it, but no dice. Was working one day and not the next...

Sure hope I can fix it someday, but I have no job and it's gonna be thousands since I have zero car experience. Sigh.
