ive got 30x9.50s on my 98 xlt...no rubbing, ive heard of 31x10.50s on some...but i hear they rub, you can get a dealership to size test i believe, i think sears will do it.

If you have the lift you can run 33x12.50's on them.

Do you have the stock 15 or 16 inch wheels? I'm thinking on getting some BFG Mud Terrains on my 98 XLT. Does anyone here have mud terrains on stock wheels with no lift. Pics if possible lol!

most tire shops(at least in my area) WILL NOT put oversized tires on your explorer. you have to bring in the rims without the vehicle and have them mount the tires. the stock rims will hold 33's i believe(they will bulge out like crazy, but its actually better when running low psi off road)

stock you can fit 31's(may require minor triming)
tt/shackles you can fit 32's(may require minor triming)
tt/shackles and 2" body lift you can fit 33's(may require minor triming)
tt/shackles and 3" body lift you can fit 35's(may require major triming, and some people have had problems with the front end holding up to the strain of 35's)

if you plan to go offoad quiet often, get M/T's! i got A/T's and regret it.

I have a 2003 XLT with stock wheels do anyone know if 265 75 16 will fit without rubbing?

265 70 16 came stock on my 99 Sport and I have lot's of room w/o any kind of lift ... the 75s shouldn't be a problem.

shouldnt the question be what is the biggest tire i can fit on my truck without a lift? it is possible to mount a 35x12.5x15 on a stock rim, it wont be ideal but that tire will fir onto that rim

thers no way you're going to fit 35s on a stock explorer...i dont think it would even fit in the wheel well

I have seen it before...once. It requires a good deal cutting though (trimming doesn't seem to fit in that application) haha :)

the front diff on all stock model explorer 91-present, are barely capable of handling 35's. there are some guys that have had 35's on the d35 ttb and had it hold up, and there are others that have broke u-joints, hubs, and even axle shafts because of the 35's. same goes for the d335 IFS.

but the question is what will fit on a stock rim. i'm pretty sure it will fit anything up to 12.5" wide. i do not believe the tires will get even wear though. a 31 or maybe 32 is all i would put on a stock rim. rock crawlers or steelies or whatever you want to call them cost $50 a piece brand new and used you can get even better deals than that. and 15x8 steelies are dime a dozen if you want anything bigger than a 31 or 32... plus stock rims are ugly.

35s will not fit stock but they will fit with a pretty big lift or with extended arms no problem. Im running 33s with just spindles for actual lift. With arms I will run 35s but in the rear if you want it to sit nice and low youll have to cut the **** out of the body and run glass panels

oh and you wont have any problem running up to a 35 on a stock 15in rim. I still run my stock wheels and will continue to do so

I dont have bfg's, have interco trxus m/t's 265/75 (32x10.5 according to interco's site) on stock 16's. Do also have the tt & shackles but thats not much of a lift really.

Heres some pics.. http://community.gixer.org/photos/jester/category1046.aspx

stock rim size on a 95 is 15x7 correct? if so what is the biggest tire that will fit on it without screwing the tire up.

I would check w/ the tire manufacture on that. I would image you can run most 11.5 wide tires. I think most tire manf recommend like a 7.5 - 8" wide wheel for 12.5".

w/ a 3" lift, yea I would imagine you could run a 31x11.5. Some off road tire shops will test fit tires for ya.
