Hello Guys. I am about to put on a billet grill on my mountaineer. What have you people done to be able to get to the latch to pop the hood. My billet is very tight and not really sure how I am going to get the hood open after it is on. Can someone please give me some pics or help on this.

Thanks

Most people, I hear keep a handy screwdriver

Thats what i figured, seeing if there was anything else.

I fabricated an L bracket and bolted it to the stock hood latch. That allows me to unlatch it in the space between the top of the grill and the hood. Same way that 98+ latches are.

Hey. U have any pictures of that, How much work did that take you to do that project?

Took me about a half hour. Started with some flat stock and just bent it over, cut the groove in the side to make it look a little more like stock.

Alright man, I like it and it looks good. Thanks for the info....

its time for hood pins...cheap and easy to install and look great...

Yeah i'm not so sure about that.

Hood pins don't belong on any car unless it has a reason to have them.

I agree with Hartman. I got the job done and it looks good will post pictures soon.

My sister-in-law has a geo metro with hood pins. Looks really stupid, but the lock broke pulling away part of the hood and pins are cheaper than a new lock and hood. You do what you have to I suppose. LOL

Are you serious ?

That is a riot !!!!!!!!!

I am not kidding. Believe me when she pulls into a gas station and checks the oil she gets some very weird looks. I try not to laugh when she is around though. Thats not nice. It keeps the hood shut though. Want me to take a pic the next time I see it?

That thing is a toy to begin with and its held together with chewing gum and bailing wire.

Yeah, post it in Fun Hump Day Photos !!!!!!!!!!

Cool. Never thought of that. It is pretty funny to see. LOL

How does the bracket bolt on? On my truck the part that moves is at the bottom and you couldn't really bolt it on. You'd need ot like, weld it or something.

i use this shark key chain i got from american eagle. it works perfect :D
