1997 Explorer. 5.0 All wheel drive.

When I turn sharply to the right there is not a problem. But when turning to the left I feel a binding that is similiar to a vehicle being in four wheel drive.

Is this normal or could there be a problem starting?

It's not normal for sure.

I have a 1996 4x4 with the control trac system and it just started doing it to me intermittently also. I don't know whats causing it..

I would also like to know what's going on with this.

My '04 was doing this. I had the front and rear differential fluid flushed as well as the transfer case and it has resolved the problem for me. No binding at all now.

That thread was helpful thanks.. I'm still unclear though if its the front drive shaft or the clutch, sounds like the clutch to me but I hate to just start throwing money at it with no solid results..

To answer your question, I don't see why they couldn't be rebuilt but I'm not sure on that one.

Does anyone else have a suggestion here?
