Hey I went to do the blend door fix, and ran into a slight problem. When I go to pop the module out of the plenum, It woun't just pop out. It seems to be held on by 3 bolts. The first 2 are on the front side, and therefore somwhat easily accessable. The problem lies with the last one-it is on the back side. How can I get the module out in this situation?

edit: I have a pic that I took with my digital camera if someone can host it.

I too have the same problem. I have just ordered a new actuator because I think i'm going to have to use a hack saw blabe to cut through the rear screw. Doing that will probably screw up the actuator. I just hope that it will work with only two screws holding it in. Maby I'll have to epoxy it. Just dont know yet.
I've read a lot of posts(150+) about this on different boards and only one guy in England got the third screw out.

97 Explorer Ltd - same problem

my 97 has the same problem.
has anyone checked with Ford on replacement procedures?
we wouldn't want them to do the work...$$$$$$$$$
i am going to check with a friend who has worked for Ford dealers for over 20 years, maybe he can get the inside story on replacing the actuator.
i will let all know as soon as i find some info.
please post if you find another solution besides the hack saw.
thanks and have a great weekend :)

Man...I guess I got lucky. When I first look at the actuator, it looked as if it was held by 3 bolts, like what you guys described. But since the instruction said that I should pry it out carefully so I did and it popped right out. Weird...
