Hey mgin00, I have done this fix and it worked great for me... I might suggest that you remove that actuator from the top of the blend and ensure that the shaft you drilled and put the pin in actually moves the when you adjust the heat control. If it doesn't you can probably get actuator at a junk yard for $5.00 or $10.00. The Ford Ranger has the same actuator in it - and there should be lots of them in the scrap heap. If it is working you may want to ensure that the broken bits of plastic are not blocking the door from swinging, as well as that your pin is in the correct position, you could put fashion some type of tool to swing the door back and forth... (make sure it is not small enough to drop down in there). The door only swings very little to go from open to closed so don't force it too much. I had to use a stick to swing the door back and forth a couple of times to clear the broken bits of plastic out of the way when I did it. If your door is really broken on the inside of the blend it may have come right off the pins there is a fix for this too, but it is posted on Ford Truck Enthusiasts web site somewhere. I hope that this may help you complete the repair. This is a very expensive repair at the garage so I recommend you play with it a little more before you go to the garage... Good Luck!
