Blend door replacement on 2003 ford explorer

Hello everyone,

I am having difficulty in finding someone to fix the blend door actuator in my ford explorer 2003. I heard tha if i take is to a mechanic is goint to cost me a pretty penny. What to do?

Yes it will. My actuator originally went in November 2010. It cost me $978 at the mechanic and lasted 6 months. My brother and I fixed it and it lasted 3 1/2 years. Big Rondo has an excellent post on here about how to fix it with pictures. He shows how to take apart the console and put it together when done. I am in the process of repairing this for the 3rd time, but now I think it's my blend door itself because it's not blowing out forcefully on high nor am I getting heat, so make sure you check the actuator before installing it. Good luck, it's back to Ford I go for my part.
