Blend door trouble, just need confirmation.

OK, 98 Eddie Bauer with the automatic heat controls.

I have done some searching on the blend door problem and figure it's the blend door but I just want a little confirmation and some other questions answered.

Here's what I notice.

I push the "floor" button for manual control and set the temp at 60 degrees and I get roasted out.

If the unit is working normally would the temp control act like a manual slide selector?

I set it on automatic and it only blows out the dash vents hot no matter what the temp is set to.

Is that where it blows out when set to automatic, the dash vent?

It probably is the blend door if you cant get anything but hot air. Not sure but I think my "auto" position sends air all over, not just the vents.
I had mine repaired at a used car dealers garage. $660. Ford dealer wanted $1,100 or so. Good luck.
