hello, i just had an exhuast leak fixed on my truck which was supposed to be the cause of my blinking service engine soon light. but a mile down the road it started again. im in the army and new to the area, but the local mechanic here is an idiot and definately not goin back to him. any causes of this would be excellent. its shaking at idle and runs like crap. need to drive from here in indiana all the way back to fort bragg next week sometime. so gotta get this issue fixed. Thanks guys!

My truck had the same problem but it was my spark plugs and wires. My plugs were old and one of my wires touched my header and was a little burnt. The engine didnt misfire but my check engine light would blink unitl i did a tune up. I hope this helps ur problem.

welcome charlie

If you haven't done it, get the code(s) from the computer.. BUT..

Normally, flashing CEL while driving indicates a miss.. and the code/pending code should tell you which one..

It could be bad plugs/wires, or bad injectors or any number of things.. Step one is to ask the computer whats wrong..

I've moved your thread to the stock 2002-2005 section. The flashing light indicates that there is a code stored which needs to be retrieved. Find out if your local mechanic has a scanner. It might be worth it for you to buy your own scanner if nobody has one locally.
