My blower in my 95 Explorer Sport hasn't worked in some time now and after replacing the blower motor, resistor, switch, and testing the power flow I've come to find out I'm losing power from my fuse box in the engine bay to the blower motor. So on my frigid ride home from work tonight an idea popped into my head. Instead of tracing wires from the fuse box throughout my entire engine bay and dash, what if I were to just hardwire a switch with an in-line 15A (or what the motor takes) fuse to the blower motor? I want to know what you guys thought, if this has been done, and if there was anything special I needed to keep in mind (such as whether or not I need a resistor, if the blower motor works harder than it has to with a full 12V coming to it, any sort of special switch, etc. etc....) I do have heat because when I drive 50+ mph i can feel the heat coming from my dash. Please let me know what you guys think.

Thanks

....I believe no one replied as this may not have been done before and everyone is busy with prepping for the holidays...:dunno:

...Try jiggling the wires under the relay and see if that works...

...I've seen this problem on other x's but usually related to fuel pumps and such...This can also be tested with a puncture type volt tester that just penetrates the sheathing enough to get a voltage reading and verify if you are getting power from the relay out...

...Adding a switch won't fix the problem, it will only give you another switch...

Power goes from the fuse box in the engine bay to the blower motor through the Blower Motor Relay.
So, check the underhood fuse(30 amp) & connections in the fuse box and the #6 Blower Relay fuse(7.5amp) fuse in the interior fuse box. If all OK replace the blower motor relay.
Sometimes a fuse may look good and may be good but the contacts have corroded and need to be cleaned. You could also check to be sure the replacement blower motor is OK.

I have a similar problem with my 98 EB. A mechanic replaced the blower however the following time I went to him he said some electric module needed to be change. The blower does blow air but it's not hot, only when I use the rear fan but it only blows cold air.
Do you guys have any suggestions?

If I understand correctly the blower is blowing fine but you have no temp control (always cold).

Could be your blend door (common problem) or blend door actuator too. Do a search for blend door for some tips on how to determine if its your blend door, actuator or control module.

My gf actually took it in to Pep boys this weekend, they told her it is an electric module that needs to be replace. The part alone is $650 from Ford.
