Jas84, sounds like a cool idea, and I hate to rain on your parade by telling you that it would be illegal in IL. The vehicle code says that it is "unlawful to have flashing, rotating, oscillating lights on your vehicle". I would say that the exteriors are a definite no-no Dead Link Removed, especially in blue. The interiors are questionable, depending on where you mount them, and how noticeable they are from the outside. This law refers to vehicles on public roadways, so as long as you were off-road on private property, I don't think you would have a problem. Maybe you can figure out some way to wire up a power switch to turn them off when driving around town.

hey there fellow Explorer and neighbor!! we were just talking about something like this on some other thread........ but!!! there is a but! we were just thinking about installing blue neaon lights inside to iluminate the under the dash area when you open your door and perhaps some underneath your truck to light up the path under your truck when the door is open....... that would be neat..... but blinking?? pulsating or whatever??? that would look kind of........ I don't know,,,, not cool.

you're not too far from me.... jas84...... check NOIEC website::::::: (dead links)

ya i know i'm considering pulsating ones that go to the beat of the bass, but i'm not sure, all i know is that i want all the lights on my truck to be blue at night. thats going to be my theme. I already have bluish headlights. Are bluish turn signals legal in IL? I just want every light to be blue in my car. Anyone got any ideas?

the only legal lights in Illinois are either white or amber (front) red or amber (rear) and stick with it unless you want to get in trouble with your friendly local law enforcement officer.

Sounds like a cool idea jas, check out www.streetglow.com for more info on the neon, it would be pretty expensive, have you seen DarkFox118's mountaineer? He has a blue neon underbody kit.

I bought a set of two Streetglow 9 inch blue tubes for under my dash and they are really bright at night and cheaper than the larger tubes. I would highly recommend these over any other brand, plus installation was extremely easy.

im my car i have 2 tubes under the dash and they shine on my feet. give off a nice amout of light and are pretty cool when just hanging out. as bright as they are the glare is kida hard on the eyes so i rarely drive with them on. oh yeah, keep your floor mats clean! =)

I have 1 15" blue Streetglow neon tube on my sub box. It is the sound activated kind. It has some type of sensor in it to know when the bass hits. Probably just works of the vibration of the sub. You can adjust its sensitivity too, or have it always on (not flashing).

It's pretty bright too. When there are no lights outside the car the single 15" tube will light up the whole interior, well the entire cargo area, all of the back seats, and a little in the front but you can see the light reflecting off the dash. For less than $40 a tube give it a try.

I installed the front ones, and let me tell you...they look SWEET! I am going to wire the back ones up next and right now i can answer any questions about installation or how you would go about this procedure. Any Questions? Shoot them at me now. Pictures of the new lights should be up soon, once i can locate a digital camera...

glad to hear it worked out for you.. I have the front neons still, I've removed my back seat neons and relocated them into my amp rack, I didn't really see any reasoning for them to be in the back seat.. as far as distracting? I don't think so.. I run my interior neons all the time.. and as far as dirty flloorboards.. bah.. use yer car and clean it for cruising.. don't be afraid to dirty it up sometimes.. :)

you mean like my truck

Go for it.

I think it would look super cool, especially under a black or white truck. But if you do, make sure that you have them wired to a switch because the police will break your nuts for 'em so you're going to want to be able to turn them off when you're on the main roads and such. Also make sure you have it done professionally especially since the lights will be in the undercarriage. They'll have to be waterproofed or else you'll risk a short to the power source and thats gonna be a headache.

Your neons look awesome.

ya, I would like to agree, underbody neon looks very nice under a white truck ;)

hey pony.. how in the world did you get that to turn out? I think I've asked you this before.. but my pictures look like crap, and there is no reason yours would be a ton brighter.. we both have streetglow right?

DarkFox.... I have no idea. I just took the pics and thats how they came out. Yes mine are streetglows. Good luck
