Blue Overhead Lighting in Front Seats

So, what I'm gathering here is, NO. You can't turn them off. How ridiculous. At least on the XLT (like mine). I actually like them, but, I want control of them. On all the time is a poor decision on Fords part. I don't appreciate being illuminated while waiting for my wife in some parking lot. 💡💡 So, for XLT owners wading thru the unhelpful "I like em" and "tape em" comments, you can't turn them off.
Welcome to the Forum.
It isn't just the XLT, all 6th gen Explorers and Aviators seem to have them. I've never tried blocking them off to see how it affects the front lighting. They seem to be aimed at the console. I would think that if the vehicle is running, the lighting from the dash would also illuminate the driver.

If they bother you that much then maybe look at the "Dark Car" settings that can be enabled with the use of the Forscan software. I know in the PIU it shuts everything off inside and out.

I had my ST for 5 months before I even noticed them, actually the wife did and pointed it out to me. If they bother you that much just put a piece of tape over them or get some black nail polish and a toothpick.

I drove mine home from the dealership at night for 3 hours and I noticed how bright they are within the first hour of driving. Then I spent the next half hour going through all the menus to try to figure out how to dim them. It's crazy that you can dim pretty much every other interior light except these. What is Ford's thought process?!?

After driving with them for over 2 years, I don't even notice them anymore. In fact, I think they are quite helpful.

Yeah they're helpful when I need them. A little distracting when I don't.
