we bought a 99 BMW 328i(e46) a few weeks ago and finally got it back from the dealer after fixing everyhting i wrote down on the WE OWE,( haha love those things) evn though it has 106k on it it runs good( we beat an 04 v6 5spd eclipse) and when they say driving a bmw is like nothing else they werent kidding, we took it out to WV down some back twisties, and wow is all i have to say, handles better than any ford ive driven. its damn close to a svt focus, id hate to see what an m3 could do to one of those.

M3 = Amazing cars.
the new 6 series coupe is my fav beemer of all time now, replacing the old M6 and 850i

My first car was a 1976 2002tii with a 2.0L 4 banger and 4 speed trans.
IN 1979 the 2002 became the 320i here in the states.

YOU just cannot beat driving a BMW, my family has had several beemers and several Mercedes, and IMO the BMW wins every time.

Someday I want to get another 2002 and put an M3 drivetrain/suspension into it :)

Congrats and enjoy! Maintenece = 103K = just warmed up!

you were lucky to have a 2002tii for your first car!

the 6 series might eventually surpass the 850csi in my eyes, but it will only be after the design has aged and i can look back with a clear head and really compare them. So until at least 2010 or so the 850csi is my favorite. Plus i'll be able to afford an 840 to cut the hell out of for my next audio/body project a heck of a lot sooner than any 6 series (too bad the 850csi's are starting to climb up to the price of a new 6 series- eh?) so i'd rather keep liking them better.

I have always loved bmw, I felt very guilty when i bought my Audi. The 5 series wagon just can't compete though at the price point i bought mine at used.

840 is derived from the famous M1, man oh man I had a poster of that sucker in my room growing up.

Yes my dad had bought a 1988 Mazda Rx7 Turbo and he mentioned to the dealer his son would be 16 soon and was looking for a car.
The guy called about a month later and they had gotten a CHERRY almost completelyt restored 2002 in. Well $3500 later (I saved for 3 summers) it was mine. 6 months later I totalled it, 3 months after that I bought another one for $800 and swapped the engine and trans from the restored one into the new rust bucket. It got exhaust, removed the fuel injection and added dual Weber carbs, and that little sucker SCREAMED!!

lol thats funny that you mentioned about the audis becaseu i told her after i pay off the mountian eer im getting an S4 in norega blue

I used to have a 2002 and ten a 325, great little cars. A friend of mine has a m3 and a new 760 and those are just amazing, they blow any other car I've ever driven out of the water.

the s4 is so overweight i can't stand it

they are fun to drive though

I realized mine isn't in my signature- i have a 1999 A6 avant with 18s on it and a nice stereo as my daily driver. Its a grandma wagon through and through.

oh yeah, my first car was a black 1984 325i

it's too bad some people think of the m1 as a flop

any clue why it double underlines "5 series"???

yes the new green links are explained on this forum....
let me see if I can find the thread Rick posted

ok, it just seems like "5 series" would have the same likelihood as 2002tii or 325i or for that matter just about anythign else to be in some way "flagged". i tried searching and found no help that way as to why

damn makes me feel cheap i saved up one summer and bout an 84 mustang turbo gt GT350 with the 2.3 t motor. got it for 1500 and i though i spent alot for a first car, good thing i didn't wreck it. cause i sold it awhile later for close to that after i cut the exhuast off and threw a bearing.

$3500 in 1989 was ALOT of $$$$ for me too man, but my dad was really good about making me save up and know I had to buy it myself.
