body lift 85% done... few quick questions

i didn't know you need the heater fan on full blast. why is that? i've never done that before while jump starting..

my battery positive cable is extremely tight now so maybe it got pulled loose or messed up somewhere. guess i'll go get a multimeter if the jump doesn't work.

When you jump start a car, a voltage spike can be sent through one or both vehicles. That can cause the computer to get fried. Having the blower on full blast in both vehicles gives that potential spike a place to go.

My battery cable wasn't tight after my lift. See if you can unclip it from something somewhere to give it some slack.

tried the jump start.. nothing. as dead as before.
i'll go mess around tomorrow after work when i'm not so frustrated. thanks for all the replies. i'll probably start a new thread on it in "under the hood" if i can't get it figured out. thanks again for the help guys. guess that 85% finished turned into 10% really quick!
this sucks!

Make sure that your tranny shift cable that you took loose isnt inbetween gears by accidant. It would be like trying to start the car if it was in reverse instead of park. It just want happen. Maybe that will help. one other thing, there shoud be one wire around the starter that could have poped loose which will be a female adaptor end that you might to slide back on. Try those two things. Good luck..I will get back with you if I can think of anything else.

seth.. that's a great point! i do remember while unclipping it from the clip.. i pulled on it a bit and i was worried that i shifted it. how do you go back if that is the problem? i'm at work now so i'll look at that when i get home. i also plan to check the wires around the starter.
how difficult is changing the battery cables? i may look into this if i can't find any clips to loosen it some.

Not sure on the Tranny, but you may want to try putting it in the on possition and moving the shift lever through all the gears. It may be in park but just ever so slightly off.;) Good call Seth!

jeez i hope its that easy. i hope i don't have to spend more days with my truck not running! i want to see it finished... i even rolled my new tires up to it and set them in the wheel wells so look.

matt.. no.. i'll take some afters. i'm in the garage were the lighting sucks really bad so they would not have come out good at all. too much stuff in the way too like boxes and chairs and crap. i plan on taking a few pics of some key stuff after i get her running though.
why, you wanna make your baby offroad friendly now!?!

thanks again guys for all the help. i'll update for sure...

it runs!!!!! woohooo!!! it was out of gear just a bit. thanks a ton Seth.. i feel dumb now but i guess it was an easy thing to overlook.
thanks to all others who helped out as well. once again, explorerforum pulls through!!!

don't feel dumb. Look at how many of us answered before someone else thought of that! Way to go seth!

ok.. so i got it to crank now... welll....
now its not going into gears. i can run the column shifter all the way around and only feel like 2, and they all seem to be forward. i can't find reverse and nothing lines up now.
can i somehow get things set back in the right place? at least i'm running, but now i gotta get out of the garage!

btw.. i'm gonna start a new thread on this in case it could help someone else..

in "UNDER THE HOOD"

thanks guys..

since your thread is not started yet I will post here. Maybe When you got it to start and thought it was in park it was in N and your cable is too tight for some reason to go up to R and P?

found out the plastic housing was cracked from me not unlipping it all the way. its tapped up now and working.. i guess as a ghetto temp fix. i'll really fix it one day.. but ford wants 100 for a new shifter cable. waiting on price from torrie...
