Are are good body mounts to get? Where do you find hardware if need to be replaced?

This was the thread that helped me do mine. I went with the Dorman kit because it came with hardware and mine was pretty bad. I have done 2 different trucks and need to do my father in laws Adrenalin that was mine. Hope this helps.

I did the poly ones because they were cheaper. I’ve been pretty happy with them. The stock front and rear mounts are rubber, so check, they may be good. It’s the middle ones that go to nothing. All my hardware was good and I beat on them pretty hard. They had no rust though.

I know it’s nerve wracking, but I highly suggest using a propane torch to heat the bolts and loosen the red lock-tite they slather on those bolts. Heat them just until they let out a hint of smoke and then you should easily be able to get them loose with a 1/2” ratchet. If they feel stiff still, give them a bit more heat. The last little bit of heat makes the biggest difference. If you put too much muscle to them without the heat they’ll start to spin on you and then the job becomes 5x harder. Experience talking here.

Could you buy a kit, and then just buy the hardware as needed? I can't tell what all needs to be replaced. I noticed the Dorman kits are expensive if I would buy all of them. I realize the middle ones are going bad, but I saw the washer, or the big plate that holds then is rusting badly on the one front one.

I just did the middle ones, the Dormans at the time weren't much more than the poly ones that didn't have hardware. I have some hardware left from my middle ones if you need any of it. Not sure if you can buy the hardware separate any where. The bolts are very long.

Now I am confused about how position 2,3 and 4 are fastened. Even the Ford diagram doesn't show a nut or washer at the bottom. Could someone explain that?

If I recall the nut is made into the big washer on the bottom. I held them in place with vice grips. I used a map gas torch to heat it and it made it easier to get them out. They have loctite on them and the heat softens the loctite. The 4th one is a real pain from what I read and mine was fine so I didn't do it. I did have to take the front one loose to get the body far enough from the frame to get the bushings in.

Were you able to reuse the nut and bolt again, after the heat was applied?

I used the Dorman kit and it came with hardware. Your hardware might be reusable, hard to say how rusty it is. If yours is bad I still have some of my old stuff in my garage if you need it.
