Here is to bonehead moves.
I ordered a dashcam that is wired using the obdII port. That is, you remove your obdII port, plug in this pigtail and install the pigtailed obdII port back where the original port was screwed in. I failed to tie off the hanging wire harness to the frame (keeping it away from the steering knuckle) under the dash. All was working well, until i was making a left turn and the wire harness to the obdII port got tangled with the knuckle and proceeded to rip the 12 wires right out of the dash harness. I lost all comunication with the dash, stereo, basically everything. Although the engine still worked fine. I got home and pulled all the dash fascia under the steering wheel and saw the mess of wires dangling. Now there were 12 color coded wires that go to the obdII port, all in different stages of ripped apart. After beating my head against the wall, i started the task of separating the wires, preparing to reconnect them. It is not real light under there, and not a whole lot of room. I ordered the posi-tap connectors and waited for them to arrive. Had to use the wife's Caddy SRX for a couple of days whilst repairing my ego and the wires.
What a mess, Many a time, i would have to just step back after connecting a couple and getting frustrated and making darn sure that i had the correct colors matching.
Lo and behold after the last one, i held my breath and pushed the start button. Voila, everything works. What a freaking relief.
Now, just for clarification, this happened a month or so ago and have had time to reflect on this. All is well and the stupid mark on my forehead is fading.
Cheers to all and Have a Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate
