I don't know what to think...I started my truck up this morning to go to work and boom! All my vacum hoses blew off. The car started puttering and the exhaust was spitting out little bits of air. My baby was dying! But she hung on for dear life. I turned off the car after a couple of seconds cause I was in shock. I popped the hood and it was a mess. Hoses and PCV pipes everywhere. So instead of going to work I stayed home to work on my baby....hey some things are just more important than work. Any way I cleaned all the hoses and replaced the elbow joints on 3 of the hoses. Put a new clamp on one PVC pipe. And she seems to doing fine now but I can't figure out what could have caused all those hoses to blow off like that. Any ideas or experiences? Thanks.

Sounds like a backfire. Is it possible it has jumped time? If so, it could cause what you are describing.

Sorry to hear about what happened. I would agree with Ira, it does sound like a backfire (you can also say your engine burped). I'd get it checked out by a dealer or a certified mechanic. They can read the codes and see what happened, it might be a timing issue.

I'm gonna take the truck in to get looked at durnig lunch today and see what he says. The problem is under control but it just kinda makes me wonder what in the heck could have caused this. I'll ask about "burping" and backfiring when I get there. I'll keep you all updated on what I find out.

Well I share the same problem as James. It happens to my 92, if I hit the ignition and let it go before my truck starts (say a second or two, in the morning when its cold) and then hit the ignition again without letting the gases settle down, it is sure to spit out all of the vacum hoses. I Mean ALL! I don't think it is a problem that the truck has, I think its because those hoses hold on to weakly and when I attempt to start it a second time without giving her enough time to settle down it burps out all the hoses. By the way it definetly runs like **** when that happens. James if you do find that the truck had a sensor problem or something of that sort, please post it.

FYI
I jumped my dead truck, and since it didn't start the first time around, it backfired. It ran real rough, and made a loud hissing sound. turns out it only blew out a vac fitting cap, which was easy to replace.
