The old trucks are still good. I drive the Explorer Sport most days to work now No way I'm selling it. Way more valuable to run it. Keeps the miles down on the other trucks. Plus still gets 20 mpg.

I always wanted a show car when I was younger, and have owned a few higher end sports cars that I kept immaculate. What I learned was that I spent so much time and effort worrying about the car, that it took the fun out of ownership.

I'm still planning on having a few more vehicles, like a survivor type Model A coup and a Dune buggy, but no show or sports cars. I love them, but I care too much if I own them. They are more like artwork than usable vehicles. I like stuff i can drive. Besides, there's really no place left to drive a real sport car like they are meant to be driven. It's not fun to drive them slow when you know what they can do, how to make them do what they do, and how euphoric it is to really get out and drive them. I would love to drive a Porsche 997 4S or GT3 again, but I'll never buy one. It would just end up as a garage queen.

I'll stick to stuff I can use.

When I was a car hauler, I transported a Model A with a Corvette 350 under the hood. Not sure what manual transmission it had, I only found 2 forward gears and reverse. What I learned is, the guys were attracted to the expensive new cars, but the ladies liked the clean classics.

I regret not buying a 1929 Model A Coupe that was being sold out of a closing private railroad museum a few years ago. It had been displayed inside for 40 years, original tan paint with black fenders. All original except the bench seat had been recovered. Even had the rumble seat. They sold it for $12,500. Running and driving car. I didn't have any inside garage space left so I passed. Model A's are still modestly priced due to the volume of manufacturing, but that was a cool old car, and it was 40 miles away. Should have moved the wife's car outside.
