I just bought a Explorer that needs engine work. The previous owner removed the passenger side head and discovered that one of the valves was cracked.
Apparently he bought the Explorer when it had the issues but was still driveable. He said besides the valve problem everything else about the vehicle was great. He was in the process of moving and wanted the vehicle gone. I only paid $500 for it and don't want to dump a bunch of money into it until I know its going to be a decent vehicle.
Can I just buy another used head and slap it on?
Should I pull the other head then buy a used head and get a valve job done on both of them?
I found a used engine that the guy claims has only 60K miles for $300. Would that be a better route to go?
This 4.0L engine doesn't look very friendly to work on so whatever's easiest is best for me.
Thanks
