I'm building a box for my x with about 1.25 cubic ft of airspace, and I was wondering at what angle (approx) I should angle the sub for the best sound in the x. Thanks.

....ported, by the way.

rear facing will give you a +3db increase in the front seat due to cabin gain. i have my four 15s firing up because that's how i designed the system. but when i need room and take 2 of them out, i turn them to face the rear.

thanks leenjen, I was going to face them to the rear, but I meant the actual degree angle of the box (wedge)if you guys could approx. it that would be great.

if you mean the front of the box (the side with the subwoofer) then a 90 degree angle (facing straight back) will work best. if you mean the back of the box. it doesn't really affect the output of the sub. you could make it straight up 90 degrees, or contour it to the back of the seat. it doesn't matter. what sub are you using?

also, what size port are you using? and what frequency are you porting the box at?

JBL GT1241 DVC
supplied with 150w rms

2.00 f*3 (that's what i meant before)
Port
L 8"
Dia 4"
35 Hz

so i don't have to angle it as such?

Thanks Leenjen, you've been infinitely helpful.

I have heard two X's next to eachother and one had 3 MTX 6000 12's firing directly rear ( 90 degrees to the floor) and the other X had 3 15" Punches firing up. The X with the rear firing subs hit twice as hard as the 3 15's. So I would go with directly firing to the rear being completly perpendicular to the floor of your X. That is how I am going to a box just because of hearing the differance first hand.

yes, the second diagram is the better of the two. KEbert is correct

I have my 2 12's with a SLIGHt SLIGHT angle my box is a little over 1 cu foot, 15 x15 inch back, with the sides going from top down 8inches wide on top, to 9 inches whide on bottom, STILL facing backwards, but sound awesome and have a little angle which is what I wanted.... what sixe MDF are you using?

i don't own a digital camera. i do have a digital video camera, but i dont have a 1394 port on my computer.

my setup is nothing special. right now the boxes aren't even carpeted, i took it off. i want to put red vinyl on them. as soon as i have access to a digitla camera, i'll post some pics.
