I blew a wheel cylinder today, no big deal easy to change. Now when i was reading my Haynes book it says i cant bleed my brakes at home cause i have abs. Any one know about this one. I would really hate to pay for a tow, and have someone bleed my brakes for me

i cant see why you can bleed them yourself. usually you start from the back passenger wheel then to the drivers rear wheel then the front passenger then always do the drivers front wheel last. you always start furthest away from the master cyl then work your way to it.

Of course you can bleed your brakes yourself.
The only problem you could encounter with it is IF you allowed air to get all the way back to the ABS pump. Then you have to have the proper tool to cycle the solenoids in the ABS pump to get the air out. As already stated, start the furthest away from the master cylinder and work towards it. (on second gens you would bleed them by the rear passenger, drivers rear, front passenger, drivers front. Not too sure about first gens)

I went ahead and bleed them, and it worked out fine

I have a 1st gen.

I accidentally let air get into the master cylinder. I will try it this week but my Ford shop manual page 06-09-46 of the Anti Lock Control, removal and installation of the RABS module, after installation, instruction #4. Bleed the brake system as described in Section 06-00 Brake - Hydraulic-General service. It is not necessary to energize the valve electrically to bleed the rear brakes.
The Haynes manual says that one should take the car into the shop.

So hopefully I'll be able to bleed my master cylinder as described in both the shop manual and the Haynes manual then bleed the brakes at the wheel cylinders w/o any complications. Now cars with full ABS and a HCU, that might be a different story.
