Brake job tips?

Hello Folks,

I purchased a set of 4 new brake rotors and pads for my 2000 explorer XLT.
Rather than taking everything up to a shop ..... I would like to do my own brake job.

Are there any "tips" - "hints" - "look out for this" - "watch out for thats" ?

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread to the stock 95-01 section. You will need to compress the pistons in the calipers before you install new pads. Use an anti squeal grease on the back of the pads, and on the caliper bolts.

Be sure to spray the rotors off with carb cleaner or brake cleaner to get the cosmaleen(sp) off. Thats the waxy stuff on them.

Back off the parking brake to get the rear rotors off, and make sure you get the front caliper brackets really tight, I think the spec is over 100ft/lbs.
