My inspection sticker expired and need this fixed to get re'inspected.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Could also mean that your pads are worn. To be on the safe side check or have someone check the entire brake system. Brake work is fairly cheap but worth so much when your safety or someone else's is at risk. There is alot of good info on this site if you are a DIY type person. Good Luck!

The red brake light only comes on for 2 reasons.
  • The E-Brake is on
  • Low Brake Fluid
You can also search on Brake Light problems for lots of other info.

Make sure the connector is securely attached on the master cylinder.

If you want to check the easy things first, may sure the emergency brake switch is not stuck. It is a simple spring on a rod with a washer at the end to make electrical contact across a couple of metal contacts. Mine was gunked up and not acting properly (actually, I had the opposite problem. The light would not light when the e-brake was engaged). There is one wire connection that pulls off, one screw holding it to the body. Took mine off, cleaned it up and put a drop of oil to lube it up and it works like a champ now.
