When I shut off my 98 Explorer the brake light warning light comes on.....it goes out once I start the truck.
Yesterday morning the battery was dead....charged it back up, truck ran great...then parked it for the night and the brake light on the dash was lit up again....

That's exceptionally odd.... the only two things that can trigger that light are the parking brake switch and the level sensor in the brake fluid reservoir. Fuse #11, (7.5A) feeds the majority of the dash cluster, but should only be hot in start or run. Pull the fuse with the key off and check the terminals in the fuse box with a multi-meter to see if there's power there.

Start there and let us know what you find.

I will check the #11 fuse tonight. This electrical problem is draining my battery every night, so low that even my door locks will not work. I replaced the battery with a new one but the same thing is happening....

problem fixed.......after two weeks of aggrivation it turns out to be the daytime running lights module. I priced one out $400......thats ridiculous.....so I will continue on my way with no day lights......

Hmmm, interesting.... odd, but interesting.... I can see how the bad DRL module could cause the battery to drain, but how it causes the brake light to come on is beyond me.... the DRL module failing isn't uncommon, but how it ties into the brake light is a mystery??

Have the same problem with a '95 Explorer Sport Expedition.
Where is the daytime running lights module located??
Thanks for your help in advance.
