I don't drive my explorer very much anymore, so i haven't noticed it, but tonight when i went to move it, the brake lights would only work when you tapped the brakes. Like you would do when you are on the interstate and are behind someone slow and you hit the brake just barely to turn the cruise off. Know what i mean? But if you pushed harder on the brake petal they would go off. Any ideas? Thanks.

Happy trails!!

maybe your switch is bad. if there is something wrong with it, it is very possible that it could break contact when fully depressed, but make contact when lightly touching. this would be my first guess. just take the swtich off, and test it with a multimeter, or 12V Light and see if it works in the fully depressed position.

Yeah you are probably right. They are called microswitches meaning that the least little bit of pressure makes the brake lights come on, good call. I haven' thought of it. I won't get to work on it until tomorrow, but i'll let you know.

Happy trails!!
