well, i was driving, and my friend told me my brake lights weren't working. the light that's on the tailgate (middle one) works fine, but the left and right brake lights don't work at all. the bulbs aren't blown, and when you turn your lights on at night, the bulb cuts on half way like it should, but when you stomp on the brake, nothing happens to the left and right brake light. any ideas as to what's up? the reverse and indicator lights work fine back there as well. thanks everyone.

I would double check the bulbs. There are two elements in them. One for the tail light and one for the brake light. As small as the elements it is hard to tel if one is burned or not. If none of the brakes light worked I would be suspect of the brake light switch but you said the third brake light was working.

It's either the bulbs (most likely) or the fuse (off-chance). Either way, it's like a $5 fix at your local Pep Boys.

duh! didn't even think about dual filament bulbs. bought new ones and it works. kinda funny that they both went out at the same time. thanks for the help. idiots like me need it every now and then :D

I'm glad it was something simple. My wife had 93 shadow that none of the brake lights worked. It ended up being the turn signal swicth was bad. That is a Chrysler product for you.
