brake noise

1996 Explorere 70,000 miles. Makes a scraping sound that goes away when brakes applied. No work has been done on brakes. Is it a caliper hanging or is it time to do a brake job?

...the best thing you could do is jack it up and pull the tire...look at the rotor and caliper...you may see what is wrong...
