My brake Shift interlock switch seems to have gone toe up. I have to use the override button every time I drive the thing. Does anyone know where the switch is located? I took it to the dealer last year when I had the same problem (The problem resolved itself and Ford could not replicate the issue, they could however charge me to look for it). They told me that the switch was located under the center console. Last night I removed part of the center console and could not find the switch. He told me that the switch usually goes out because people spill liquids into the center console and it ruins the switch. When I looked all I saw were the 12V cigarette lighter outlet wires and AC vents. I think he was covering for a defective part. Also how much does this part cost?
Thanks in advance
UPDATE
Fixed the problem. After a little more investgation I found that my brake lights were not working. This lead me to the brake light switch. I was able to get the part at autozone for $17 (Ford parts quoted me $87 for the same part). Now my explorer shifts and I have break lights. If I had taken it in the dealer would have sold me a new interlock switch and a new brake light switch. Installed it would have probably been over $500.
Thanks in advance
