So, the 2002 Stock page said to come here...

I have a 2002 SE 5-Speed manual and my parking brake is stuck in the OFF position. I cannot press the pedal to engage the brake. It won't even budge a little. STUCK! Any suggestions or ideas before I give in to a mechanic?! Thank you in advance for your help!

Do the brakes work fine, otherwise?

Yes, no other problems. However, a few days ago when I would release the parking brake from the IN position, the light on my dash stayed lit. The brake (and all brakes was working fine, I just figured it was an electrical glitch.

Now, I'm just stuck.

I never use the parking brake on any car i touch becasue sometime they rust up and cant be released.

Take off your rotor and check it out, also disconnect your lines and see if you can still push the pedel in. could be a kinked line

Well, it's a 5-speed manual, so I *have* to use the parking brake. Mine isn't stuck where it can't be released. It is stuck so I cannot engage it. I can't park on an incline because I'm unable to press the pedal down.

If it won't move at all either up or down, it's likely something jammed under the dash on the pedal assembly. If it gives a little bit, but won't go to the floor, the problem will be somewhere under the truck. By your description, it sounds like something happened within the ratcheting mechanism on the pedal, but without seeing/touching/tasting/biting it, it's a guess at best.
