brake too soft, and sometimes hard to stop

Hello,

My brake started to have issue about a year ago, sometimes when I brake, the car would gradually slow down, then at the last moment, the brake would suddenly losing the grip and I had to release the brake and brake again to make the car stop.

My front brake /rotor was replaced 2 years ago, so last November, I went to a shop to have brake fluid replaced. After brake fluid change, sometimes above brake issue still occasionally happen.

Now comes Covid19 and work from home situation, I no longer drive my car daily, instead I drive once per week. Every time when I first drive it, the brake feels super soft, I have to step almost 90% of brake to do small stop, in the past a gentle brake would do. Only after I repeatedly stopping for a while, especially after many deep brake, the brake would come back firm again.

Can you suggest what might be the problem , how to get it fixed?

I wonder if it is possible that there might be air in the brake lines? Have you checked the fluid level?

I checked today, the fluid is at the max. What else should I check
