broke my windshield

Well the latch of my windshield. I read that there was a recall on that for 2004 ford explorers thats what I got. I will probably just fix myself. My question is how do I take the whole latch off?

couldnt my explorer been built in 03 though?

yes..but i imagine they would put "explorers or mountaineers built from 2002- 2003"
before doing it yourself...call up a dealer..let them know what happened and about the recall. See what they say

It says: THE VEHICLES BUILT FROM AUGUST 1, 2000 THROUGH MARCH 3, 2002, THE DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE HINGES AND LIFTGATE STRUT BRACKET. ON VEHICLES BUILT FROM MARCH 3, 2002 THROUGH JUNE 23, 2003,
'04 we are out of luck. Call to be sure.
