Has anyone done a replacement on lower front door hinges? Both of mine click loudly when the door swings. I had one replaced under warrantee and now both are clicking and the warrantee has expired. The doors swing fine but the noise is annoying. It doesn't look like the fix is too difficult if the door is supported while working. Where can I buy the hinges other than the dealer?

Well from the sounds of it what you are calling broken door hinges is actually just worn out bushings in your hinges. The bushings in your hinges are made of brass and they wear after time to produce "clunking" noises along with "saggy" doors. Are your doors sagging also? It is difficult to inspect the bushings since they aren't very visible when the hing is on. You will see two brackets, one swich bolts to the door and one which bolts to the door jam. Holding these brackets together is a vertical pin. (Pretty heavy duty) The pin goes through each bracket at two points. At these points there are small brass rings. If these rings are worn they can be replaced for a fraction of the cost of a hinge. Inspect this area and get back to me. If its the bushings that is bad i can explain how to fix them for you.

I took one of the hinges off the car (quite a job) but I don't see any bushings around the hinge pin. The roller that contacts the metal ramp seems sloppy on its pin. could that be what makes the clicking noise. The door is not sagging. Any suggestions?

Bump, I am too expierencing this problem and ford wants $200 per door. After about half way the dor makes a "clicking" noise, the door is not sagging either. Anyone know anyhting about this?

Try lubricating the door check. Often that is what is causing the click.

White Lithium grease or Zep 45 will do the trick.

need help to replace passenger upper door hinge on 1993 explorer. No access to the bolt that sticks thru hole to inside. need to remove nut that is on this bolt. removed the trim panels, glove box still no access. looks loke the only way is to partially remove the dash to get access. anybody done this before.

i had a click on opening the door on my 97, i found the cure in a post on here, worked for me. turns out the roller wheel developes a flat spot on it and doesn't rotate properly. try opening the door and spin the rubber roller a quarter turn. When i did that click was gone. If the click upon opening returns just roll it again.
