Broken drivers door handle

My drivers exterior door handle broke on the hinge side the other morning so I'll be needing to install a new one. Damn freezing rain.
I found the thread for removing the inner door panel. That looks easy enough. New handle is $57.
Does anyone know how this handle is attached inside?

Would anyone have any ideas on what to treat the door seals with to prevent frozen stuck doors? Nearly broke another one of these flimsy door handles.

The 3rd Generation Explorers were just not built as well as the previous years. I sold my 2005 after I had traded my 99 in. I just bought me a 2000 XLT.
