I managed to shear off the end of the lower front shock mount on a '94 X while trying to replace the shocks. Am I screwed, or is there a way to replace this mount (either myself or by a suspension shop??)

I really, really hope I don't need to replace that whole stabilizer thing. :banghead:

hey I did the same thing on my 94 to ! I just drilled out the broken screw then I just tapped the hole and put a new bolt and washer on the end of the shock mount , it has worked fine ever since. I called ford when mine broke and they told me you had to get the whole new radius arm.

By the book, you would need to replace the radius arm. I was surprised that a new radius didn't cost more (~$50). However, my personal preference is to do like mechanic021, and grind off/cut off/drill out the old fastener and install a new one. Dorman sells a generic shock mount (part # 705-001) that works well. Usually found under the brand name Help! part number 31001 and many parts houses (autozone, Carquest, etc) carry this line.

Yeah, what is with that? I went to change my radius arm bushings last weekend, and the first nut I turned, yep, the shock mount nut sheared right off... Everything else went okay, the axle, spring, radius arm... Get to the other side, even hit it with a torch for a second... No difference, it sheard off too... Here I was thinking the radius arm bushings were supposed to be the hard part... I drilled and tapped, but I still don't like it, it's a smaller bolt... Can you actually get that damn stud out of there? I'm going to get a set of radius arms they are about $45 each here too... I feel for you man, at least you can drive without the nuts on, just don't go too crazy...
