I finally got rid of the wire nut switch on the brown wire mod. And after doing a search I installed the lighted switch. I like the way the light comes on showing if it is going into 4wd when I have'nt even turned the knob to 4wd. Here is my question. Some times the light comes on, but ever so dim. When this happens it does not go into 4wd. Is this a normal thing to happen if it was working fine? Or is this telling me that this could be some of the problem. And if so, where should I look.

I'll be in and out all day and will check back. Damn 410, 10 seconds gone by and u have not posted. Are you slacking. LOL

The slight illumination of the LED in the switch is normal. It has to due with the nature of a solid state relay, specifically its inability to truly cut the power flow completely. There are no moving parts in that relay, it simply uses another circuit to open and close it (I remember building one in my electronics class).

Thanks, I was cutting the switch off when that happened. So I'll just leave it on and then turn off when it gets gets bright on dry pavement.

I just leave mine off all the time unless I want 4wd for some reason. In the rain, I leave it in auto just to prevent lighting them up when I leave a driveway in too much of a hurry. But in the dry, mine's off all the time.

Got it. Sounds like a plan

I really can't justify turning if off all the time, I mean there is no true 2wd geat inside the transfer case so that power is just being wasted inside the t-case.
