2000 Explorer Sport 4x4
I have a 2000 4x4 Explorer Sport that I am starting to mod. I am a deer hunter and general outdoorsman so lift kits and what not are not first on my list.

I am looking for a Brush Guard, Roof Light Racks, and Rear Bumbers that DON'T suck. All of the ones I have found are Euro guards that aren't that stout. Does anyone know where I can find this equipment?

Again, I am looking for ranch hand type stuff that is heavy duty.

Thanks

CoryL makes a mean rear bumper tire carrier package, but as for a front brushguard....hate to break it to ya, but we drive Explorers, grocery getters for the soccer moms, so all your brush guards are primarily going to be cosmetic. I know that James Duff makes bumpers that are pretty nice, you might want to check them out.

I have a Smittybilt Outland bar that isn't half bad. It's nowhere near as strong as CoryL's but it has served me well offroading. The mounting is not the strongest, but I reinforced the mounts on mine to make it better. If you don't mind cutting slots in your bumper, you can really reinforce the bar well. Just cut a slot in the plastic cover and bolt or weld an "L" bracket on either side of the brushguard onto the metal bumper backer.

Part of the reason there are not many aftermarket sturdy guards is because of the airbag issue. I would guess that some of the manufacturers are afraid of the liability if they make a heavy duty brushguard that alters the way the airbags go off in an accident.

If you want a "brushguard" that is strong, WAAG makes one for Ramsey that is a winchguard. It's very strong but is about $700.

Also, milemarket makes a brushguard too but I haven't heard much about it.

Check out www.roadarmor.com. They make products for Ford trucks but I don't know about explorers in particular.

Warn's transformer brush guard/winch mount would be sturdy enough. you wouldn't have to use the winch mount eather.
