As the summer months have been rolling by, I have noticed a rather large collage of bugs on my windshield. I was wondering if anybody has found anything really good to put in their windshield washer resivoir that really takes the bugs off well. Does anybody have anything that they concoct that works? The best thing I have found is a solvent that we use at work for this, you are supposed to mix 1 capful per gallon, so about half a cup of it in the resivoir does pretty good. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't put anything really strong in your washer fluid reservoir. I would be afraid it would eat up the plastic or clog the lines feeding the windshield. Here's what I do. Everytime you wash your X take some bug and tar remover or kerosene, put a little bit on a rag and rub until the bugs come off the windshield. It doesn't take to long and usually cleans up all the gunk left by the dead little buggers. Then just wash your truck clean and everything should be all fine and dandy.

When I used to work in a truck stop we'd fill the washer fluid buckets with windshield washer fluid and a little liquid dish washing soap, and use one of those green scrubbing pads to remove bugs from the big rigs. Works great and quick.

If you think you have biggs,,, take a night drive through the Everglades.

They got skeeters that can stand flat footed and rape a turkey in that swamp.

Yeah they do. Those moskeeters are bigger than your fist and can suck the life out of a human. We have those nasty things up here too. Driving through Dismal Swamp down Rt. 17 your engine runs very hot from the lack of ariflow through the grill b/c the dead bugs have clogged it up.

Removing bugs from paint: dryer sheets. Don't ask why, just try it.

Cleaning windshield: BonAmi powdered cleanser. Won't scratch, gets it really clean. (you will notice how pitted your windsheild is though....

I use Rain-X on the windshield (before the bugs are on it) and noticed they come off pretty easy afterwards.
