Bugs in my '99 sport

Ants, to be perfectly clear. I can't seem to figure which section this little problem belongs in, so here I go:
I've apparently acquired a rather large colony of otherwise harmless black ants in the front bumper area on my X. It would seem they've been enjoying the bounty of dead things that have accumulated over my most recent trip up to Tallahassee, and the ants are quite prosperous.
My point, if I have one, is this: What do you all reccomend? I was going to try pulling off my grille and possibly the bumper to blast 'em out with a hose. For the time being I've placed some ant poison on the grille cover and I'm letting them chill with that overnight. Any other suggestions?

Soap, water.....you know, wash it.

Whenever I get bug splatter, I wash it ASAP. Something I noticed is yellowjackets like to feed off the dead bugs too. So beware

Ants (and other crawling insects) hate vinegar. Mix a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water spray wherever you don't want the ants to tread. Be careful if you spray it on their nest they will invade another area.

Also, believe this or not. Have an exterminator (bug man) or whatever they are called where you are at treat your car. We have had to do it several times because of fleas and ticks from hauling dogs in the hatch. my dogs got the critters from a neighborhood stray cat that infested our yard and several neighbors yards.

very helpful, all, thanks! I hadn't thought to try the quarter-car-wash thing- I may try that! if neccessary, I'll pull my grille off. There's one problem, though- I can't find a thread on the boards that deals directly with that issue. can anyone direct me? Thanks!
