My 98 sohc Explorer has been making this noise like a bump bump bump that you can feel.It only happens in 1st or 2nd gear under wot or a load,like when i tow my 20' boat.When towing it will do it most noticeably when starting out and going up a hill at low speeds when i give it more throttle so it is loading up.
It seems like it slips a little and catches itself again and again.
