I live up in Canada, and in the winter the roads often have a little ice on them. With that, and a slight lack of concentration, I had a little accident this winter. I tapped a Durango at a stop light. =( There was no damage to the Durango, but the front bumper on my X is angled upwards about 15-25 degrees. There's no damage to it, it's just angled upwards.

My question: Can I fix this myself? The frame is not bent, and other than a little bend to the bumper, everything is good. I've read my Hanes repair manual, and removal of the bumper seems possible. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I might go about trying to make everything straight again?

Chrome bumpers for explorers are easy to find in any junk yard I would just replace it.I dont even think you could beat that back into shape,but I have been wrong before.

Im sorry where are my manners.Welcome to the site:D

Thanks. =)

Good idea, for some reason I hadn't thought of that. How much should I be paying for a bumper? I've never been to a junk yard before.

For a good bumper no more than 75 dollars maybe cheaper,any chrome bumper from 91 to 94 will work but you might have to use your trim so that it matches the rest of the truck.But you could get lucky and find a exact match

You might be able to shor cut it and just get new bumper brackets if your bumper is realitively straight.
Ford bumpers are not bad at all to work on.
I work in a collision repair shop , trust me if you hit a Dodge , there is damage , those things are so poorly designed.

I completed the repair by simply adjusting how the bumper sits in it's bracket. It worked rather well, although the front several inches of the frame is slightly distorted. It was cheaper that way, and the impact hasn't affected the driving of my X in anyway, so I think I can get away with it.

Actually, there was *no* damage to the Durango... there didn't appear to be any at the time of the accident, and it's been.... four of five months now and he hasn't called. I was very lucky, to say the least.

Thanks for all your advice - I may have questions about fiberglass repair for you in the future. =)
